Our industry's products play an important part in daily life

Every morning our products are used in bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and laundries throughout Australia as individuals and families ready themselves for the day ahead.

Products supplied by our industry include all types of cleaning agents, personal care products, cosmetics, fragrances, hygiene products, disinfectants, adhesives, sealants, protectants and other treatment products used in households, industry, institutions and agriculture.

These products play an important role in:

A dynamic and innovative industry

With estimated annual retail-level product sales in the vicinity of $10 billion, our industry has a significant economic footprint within Australia. 

In terms of direct employment, ACCORD members are responsible for more than 14,000 full-time equivalent positions.

And a range of other industries rely strongly on our industry and its products. This includes the: Australian retailing sector, beauty and haircare industry, food manufacturing sector, hospitality industry, contract cleaning industry, catering and restaurant trade, hospitals, clinics and other care institutions, farm production and other manufacturing operations.

Our members operate in all Australian states and territories. Across ACCORD's membership, the industry operates more than 50 local manufacturing operations. Our members are also active in innovation, with more than 50 percent of our members investing in local R&D.
