Social contribution & environmental sustainability
The consumer, cosmetic, hygiene and specialty products industry is committed to playing its part in meeting the social, health and environmental challenges of importance to the overall wellbeing of the community.
The challenge of sustainability at both national and global levels, and the potential role for new technologies, is inherent in this.
For ACCORD members, this means looking at our contribution from two angles:
- The ways in which using our products can contribute to helping other Australians live their lives more safely and sustainably
- The sustainability of our own businesses and industries, their practices and products
The consumer, cosmetic, hygiene and speciality products industry plays a natural role in community safety and sustainability.
Many of our products help to maintain health and hygiene for individuals, families, communities, hospitals and public places - both preventing disease transmission and reducing food-related illnesses and poisoning.
Our industry's specialty products also help commerce and industry operate more effectively by supporting specialised production and manufacturing tasks.
| Cosmetic and personal care products play an enriching role in society. In modern times beauty products have become synonymous with self expression and personal pampering, especially as women have escaped the oppression and drudgery of the past to take their rightful place at the forefront of our society. Men are also discovering the value of using personal care products to take care of themselves. | ![]() |
